Serving Children in Uganda

This blog is set up to give you, the reader, a glimpse of what I will be doing in Uganda. I will be leaving Oregon on January 14, 2007 to help with a wonderful program in Kampala, Uganda, known as "Action for Children." Action for Children was established by Jolly Nyenko to connect children who lost their parents to AIDS with members of their extended family. In addition, Action for Children provides services to support these families, such as counseling. For more background on Action for Children, go to Holt International Children's Services' website: http://www.holtintl.org/uganda/index.shtml.

My trip is being supported by good thoughts and donations from many friends, family and co-workers. As the trip progresses, I will post pictures and stories describing an art project the children will be working on, among other things.

Thank you all who have helped with this trip, especially Jolly who has invited me to stay with her, the Holt staff who have helped organize the trip and my dear friends who have given me courage. I am so very fortunate to be going to Uganda and for having the support of all of you!
